I grew up in the backstreets of Fatih, İstanbul, where the smell of slow-cooked lamb and freshly baked simit was as familiar as morning light. My grandmother's kitchen was my first classroom — her hands moved through recipes that had never been written down, passed from woman to woman across the hills of Anatolia for centuries.

I am Muhammet Filiz — a home cook, a food historian at heart, and an obsessive documenter of the flavors that define who we are as a people. After spending years working in hospitality across Istanbul, I came to a quiet, urgent realization: the regional recipes that shaped my childhood are disappearing. Villages are emptying. The grandmothers who carry these traditions in their hands are growing old.

That fear became my mission. I began traveling across Anatolia — from the Black Sea coast to the plains of Gaziantep, from the valleys of Erzurum to the fig orchards of Aegean İzmir — collecting recipes, stories, and the quiet wisdom of home kitchens that the world might never otherwise know.
